Background Information: In Mozambique history has to do with many different type of issues these issues began in when the Portuguese took over Mozambique. During the 1752 Portugal had claimed that Mozambique was theirs and that also marked the date that slavery began. The slaves were sent from Mozambique to French sugar plantations also were sent to Brazil to start another plantation there. Also when the mid 1800's Monomatapa empire collapsed from a lot of pressure from Portugal and the new Arab traders. During this time the people from southern Africa took over the Thonga Kingdom (south Zambezi) after this happened the Gaza empire was formed. In 1869 Portugal had abolished slavery but in Mozambique slavery continued until the 1900. They became independent from Portugal in the year 1975 ever since then they have been having struggles with civil war. They supported for armed groups that were against white- minority ruled governments in Rhodesia and South Africa which had two countries supporting the Renamo movement, this had lead to the fight against Frelimo in the years of 1977 to 1992 civil wars.
Current Affairs: Mozambique has failed to become a democractic nation because the government from this place doesn't have control of their nation because there's many issues with the nation. Some of the major issues in this country is many kinds of crimes are seen in Mozambique for example there is many car jacking, robbery is another big issue because many visitors aren't able to carry valuble things with them. Their safety system you can't really rely on them. Another conflict is that the there is many families in need and the country doesn't look for a solution to help them out. The country's economy developed after civil wars and also is undeveloped. Their economy is undeveloped because they live mostly in proverty and not in richness, meaning that their economy isnt very stable. Their major exports are aluminum, electric energy, tobacco, natural gas, sugar and prawns. These sources are export to many different places in the world.
